Welcome to the STRIMHealth project website!
This project has received funding from the European Union within HORIZON-WIDERA-2023-ACCESS-02 under grant agreement No. 101159400. As part of the Twinning call, this project goes beyond the purely scientific framework, as it includes the development of management and administrative competences of the coordinating institution from Serbia – Institute for Biological Research “Siniša Stanković” – National Institute of the Republic of Serbia, University of Belgrade (IBISS). This will be achieved through strategic collaboration with top-class counterparts at EU level – Örebro University (Sweden), Amsterdam University Medical Center (Netherlands) and Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Lisboa (Portugal).
The research part of this project addresses the urgent problem of Metabolic Dysfunction-Associated Liver Steatosis Disease (MASLD). MASLD is the most prevalent liver disease in the Western world and has reached alarming levels, especially in Serbia and the Balkan Peninsula.
STRIMHealth aims to pioneer innovative research of metabolic diseases in Serbia and establish a Metabolic Disease Research Unit and a Bioinformatics Hub at IBISS. Together we strive to drive scientific excellence, foster impactful multidisciplinary research and pave the way for proactive contributions to global metabolic health, true to our motto: “A partnership for metabolic health”.
