Uroš Gašić, PhD

Dr. Uroš Gašić was born on November 24, 1986 in Šabac, where he completed primary and secondary school. He entered the Faculty of Chemistry University of Belgrade (FCUB) in 2005 and completed his doctoral academic studies in 2017. From 2009 to 2019 he was employed at the Department of Analytical Chemistry of the FCUB. Since August 2019, he has been employed at the Department of Plant Physiology, Institute for Biological Research “Siniša Stanković” (IBISS), National Institute of the Republic of Serbia, University of Belgrade. He was elected to the position of Principal Research Fellow in September 2023.

His main research interests are analytical chemistry, food chemistry, liquid chromatography, mass spectrometry, secondary plant metabolites, and chemotaxonomic studies. Since the beginning of his scientific research career, he has participated in the implementation of 4 national and 5 international projects. He is co-author of over 140 original research papers in international peer-reviewed journals, and his works have been highly cited (h index 30). During his scientific research career, Dr. Uroš Gašić reviewed over 130 papers from the SCI list. He serves as a guest editor in the journal Frontiers in Nutrition within the section “Food Chemistry”. He is a member of the Serbian Chemical Society (SHD), the Society for Plant Physiology of Serbia (DFBS) and the Federation of European Societies for Plant Biology (FESPB). He received the medal for the scientific zeal and success of the Serbian Chemical Society as an expression of recognition for the results of research in the field of food chemistry with an emphasis on the analysis of secondary plant metabolites.
