Researchers from the Institute for Biological Research “Siniša Stanković” – National Institute of the Republic of Serbia, University of Belgrade (IBISS), are currently undertaking another short-term experts visit within the STRIMHealth project, continuing a series of successful research visits and ongoing collaboration.
This time, the mission is once again taking place at the Research Institute for Medicines (iMed ULisboa), in the Cell Function and Therapeutic Targeting group led by Prof. Cecília Maria Pereira Rodrigues. Four IBISS researchers, Dr. Biljana Bursać, Dr. Miloš Vratarić, and two PhD students, Tijana Marković and Vasilije Živaljević, are participating in the mission, working closely with the host team on joint research and training activities.
The stay, running from April 14th to May 8th, 2026, is focused on parallel hands-on training in both Drug Discovery and Biomarker Identification and Validation. The drug discovery training covers in vitro screening platforms, assay optimization, small-molecule testing, dose–response analysis, and integration of results with disease-relevant models. In parallel, biomarker-focused activities include key aspects of discovery strategies, multi-omics approaches, experimental design, validation pipelines, as well as statistical analysis and assessment of clinical relevance in metabolic disease contexts.
Through STRIMHealth, this mission contributes to strengthening interdisciplinary research by integrating computational and experimental approaches, while further enhancing collaboration, knowledge exchange, and joint doctoral supervision between IBISS and iMed ULisboa.
