Online Workshop “Science Communication and Public Engagement”

Within the objective of the STRIMHealth project to increase scientific communication and outreach activities, we are pleased to announce the workshop “Science Communication and Public Engagement”. This online workshop will be held online by Prof Dr Cecília Rodrigues and organized by the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Lisbon (FFULisboa). It will take place on October 7th 2026, from 10:30 until 16:00 (CET).

The workshop will cover strategies for oral communication in science (presentations, narratives and non-verbal language) and extend them to public engagement, so that each presentation becomes a point of dialogue with the general public. It aims to build participants’ confidence and clarity in communicating scientific knowledge. The workshop consists of theoretical presentations and a practical session.

By its end, participants should be able to:
§ build an engaging narrative adapted to different audiences;
§ use voice, body and stage space with intention;
§ use visual aids strategically, to strengthen the message rather than replace it;
§ connect their work to broader health challenges and engage the public in the conversation.

The workshop is primarily intended for PhD students and early stage researchers from Serbian research institutes and faculties. The working language of the workshop is English, and participation requires prior registration.
