Tuulia Hyötyläinen

Tuulia Hyötyläinen holds a PhD in analytical chemistry from the University of Helsinki. Since 2016, she has been a Professor of Chemistry at Örebro University. Previously, she worked as a Finnish Academy Fellow at the University of Helsinki, as Head of Research at the Maj and Tor Nessling Foundation, as a team leader at VTT Technical Research Center of Finland, and as Principal Investigator at Steno Diabetes Centre in Copenhagen. She is currently the coordinator of the EU Horizon-funded project “Investigation of endocrine-disrupting chemicals as contributors to the progression of metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease – EDC-MASLD (https://edc-masld.eu/).” Her background is in analytical chemistry, with extensive experience in instrumental and methodological development, with a main focus on environmental research and metabolomics, specifically on exposome research. The goal of her research is to gain insights into the health consequences of environmental factors by combining comprehensive chemical characterization of both endogenous and exogenous compounds and integrating this data with health outcomes.
