Work package 4

WP leader: Matej Orešič (ORU)

Improving research management and administration skills of IBISS staff and Research Management Working Group

By taking part in the World Bank-funded Serbia Accelerating Innovation and Entrepreneurship (SAIGE) project and thus adopting best practices for management, funding, and development of high value strategic research and innovation (R&I) goals to produce substantial economic and social outcomes, IBISS is aiming to become a leading institution for basic studies in biology and related sciences at both regional and EU levels. STRIMHealth project aims to support these endeavors by exchanging best practices with partner institutions.

Specifically, Work package 4 will encompass the advancement of research management and administrative skills, through training and workshops on topics related to research support, project and financial management, Research Data Management (RDM) and Open Science (OP). The main goal is to build the human capacity of the IBISS Research Management Working Group and foster its transformation into a competent unit (RMU), thereby stimulating proactive search for international fundings and reducing dependence on Serbian national funds. The transfer of related knowledge will be attained through four trainings held by the highly successful Horizon 2020 applicant, Prof. Orešič and the ORU Grant office, and aided by visits of IBISS senior researchers and administrative staff to the Research support and Grant office of all three STRIMHealth IBISS partners.

The sustainable improvement of research management and administrative skills of IBISS RMU will be further endorsed by establishing a joint virtual research management platform between IBISS RMU and partner offices, enabling a continual direct online communication. Finally, two workshops on RDM and OP will be performed by the AmsterdamUMC Research support office (RSO) and the IBISS librarian, and accompanied by her visit to AmsterdamUMC in order to get acquainted with the RDM platform of partner institutions.
