As part of the Open Day program held on February 12th 2026, PhD students in biology and related fields visited Institute for Biological Research “Siniša Stanković” (IBISS) to gain first-hand insight into the Institute’s scientific activities and research environment.
During the visit, the Department of Biochemistry introduced its main research lines, methodological approaches, and current scientific challenges. Within this framework, ongoing activities of the STRIMHealth project were presented as an example of interdisciplinary research focused on fatty liver disease, biomarker discovery, and the exploration of potential therapeutic strategies. Dr. Nataša Veličković and Dr. Ana Đorđević outlined key aspects of the project and discussed the broader context of metabolic disease research.
We hope that the visit was both inspiring and informative for the visiting students, and we look forward to future opportunities for collaboration with this new generation of researchers!
