STRIMHealth Once Again Contributes to European Researchers’ Night in Serbia

On Friday, September 26, the 20th edition of the European Researchers’ Night was celebrated across more than 450 cities in Europe, including 16 towns in Serbia. This vibrant event featured a rich program of activities designed for audiences of all ages. As in previous years, Serbia’s contribution extended throughout Researchers’ Week, with events kicking off days earlier.

Within these early events, on Wednesday, September 24, Bojana Mićić, a team member of the STRIMHealth project, took part in a public event titled “What Does Science Have to Do With Us?”. Held at the Palace of Science in Belgrade, this event gathered around 70 participants, primarily high school students from across the city. In addition to Bojana, the event also featured two distinguished scientists — Smilja Praćer and Zorana Kurbalija Novičić.

Bojana presented the STRIMHealth project, its goals and interdisciplinary approach through a talk titled “Today’s Metabolic Diseases: How to Stay in Flow with Your Health”. Her lecture addressed the rising prevalence of obesity and metabolic disorders, especially among young people. By explaining the underlying mechanisms and various contributing factors, she emphasized the importance of prevention and healthy lifestyle choices—fully in line with the project’s motto: A partnership for metabolic health.

In the spirit of the European Researchers’ Night, Bojana and her fellow speakers underlined the relevance of science in everyday life. Their message was clear: science helps us make better decisions, and its clear communication is essential—not only in labs and journals but also in classrooms, homes, and public discourse.
