Workshop in Metagenomics: microbiome studies and metagenomics data processing is finished!

The Workshop in Metagenomics was successfully completed to the satisfaction of all participants and lecturers! The workshop was conducted both online and in person from November 12-15, 2024 at IBISS (Belgrade, Serbia) by Prof. Dr. Max Nieuwdorp, Mark Davids and Dr. Amir Alizadeh Bahmani (Amsterdam UMC) with the participation of Dr. Dušan Radojević (IMGGE, Belgrade). The workshop was attended by 20 participants on-site and 13 online participants.

The four-day training covered a wide range of topics related to the human microbiome and metagenomics. Day 1 introduced the human microbiome and applications of metagenomics presented by Mark Davids and Dušan Radojević, followed with R/DADA2 sessions. Day 2 focused on microbial ecology and a workshop on microbiome study design, led by Mark Davids and Amir Alizadeh Bahmani. Day 3 offered hands-on sessions on shotgun metagenomics, genomic profiling and strain tracking. On Day 4, Prof. Nieuwdorp presented his ERC-funded research, followed by a workshop on multi-omics integration by Mark Davids and Dr. Alizadeh Bahmani.

We would like to thank all lecturers and participants for their enthusiastic engagement in this training and invite everyone to stay tuned. More interesting workshops will follow!
