The STRIMHealth team at the University of Belgrade’s Institute for Biological Research “Siniša Stanković” (IBISS) hosted two highly anticipated educational programs at the beginning of April 2025, aimed at advancing knowledge and skills in metabolic health research.
The first program, “Translational Research in Metabolic Dysfunction–Associated Steatotic Liver Disease (MASLD)”, took place on April 7th, 2025. Participants had the opportunity to hear from inspiring speakers and learn about the latest advancements in translational research. The course highlighted examples of best practices and successful collaborations between academia and industry, all in the service of improving metabolic health. Experts shared valuable insights on translating scientific findings into clinical applications, as well as opportunities for technology transfer, leaving the participants motivated and eager to apply the knowledge in their own research.
From April 8th to 10th, 2025, the Workshop “Preclinical Models of Metabolic Dysfunction–Associated Steatotic Liver Disease (MASLD)” provided an in-depth exploration of in vivo and in vitro models used in preclinical research. Participants had the chance to learn about various experimental models, including 3D organoids and spheroids, as well as microfluidic cell culture systems, and the most important endpoints relevant for MASLD studies. Dr. André Santos and Dr. Vanda Marques, the workshop’s dedicated and exceptional instructors, guided the participants with their expertise and enthusiasm. On the final day of the workshop, participants applied the knowledge they had gained during group practical sessions, where they worked on writing project proposals, further reinforcing the practical aspects of the training.
Stay tuned for more upcoming courses in a few months, as STRIMHealth continues to enhance the research capacities of Serbian scientists through its educational programs, all while advancing research in metabolic health!
