To the satisfaction of all participants and lecturers, the 1st training in analytical methods for mass spectrometry was successfully wrapped up! Held at IBISS (Belgrade, Serbia), the first two days of this training (September 30th, October 1st) comprised of the theoretical lectures on the use and details of various mass spectrometry-based analytical methods in lipidomics. The lectures were given by Prof. Matej Orešič and Prof. Tuulia Hyötyläinen from Orebro University (ORU) – GC-MS and LC-MS, with participation of Dr. Marijana Petković from the Institute of Nuclear Sciences “Vinča” (presentation on MALDI-TOF). The practical part of the training started on Day 3 (October 2nd), and included the general introduction to the principles of LC-Orbitrap, given by Dr. Uroš Gašić (IBISS), as well as the sample preparation for LC-Orbitrap analysis, performed by Dr. Victor Castro-Alves (ORU) and Dr. Uroš Gašić (IBISS). The final (Day 4, October 3rd) practical session of the training was conducted by Dr. Victor Castro-Alves and was aimed at showing the fundamentals of HRMS data pre-processing (MSconvert and MZmine) and processing on MZmine. We would like to thank all the lecturers and participants for their constructive engagement in this training and invite everyone interested to stay tuned.
