The STRIMHealth project, in collaboration with Amsterdam University Medical Center, successfully held the workshop “Biomarker Discovery in Metagenomics” on 26–27 March 2026 at the Institute for Biological Research “Siniša Stanković” in Belgrade.
This two-day workshop brought together researchers, PhD students, and early-career scientists interested in microbiome data analysis and biomarker discovery. The sessions were led by bioinformaticians Mark Davids and Dr. Amir Alizadeh Bahmani, who provided both theoretical background and practical insights into current approaches in the field.
The program covered important topics, including biomarker discovery strategies in metagenomics, challenges associated with microbiome data, advanced statistical methodologies, and modern approaches to modeling and visualization. In addition to the lectures, participants took part in a hands-on session where they applied analytical methods to real datasets, gaining practical experience in metagenomics workflows.
The workshop fostered an engaging and interactive environment, encouraging knowledge exchange and discussion among participants from diverse scientific backgrounds. We thank all speakers and attendees for their contributions and look forward to continued collaboration within the STRIMHealth network.
